Dr Nurhashim Haron

A General and Colorectal Surgeon, Dr Hashim has special interest in minimally invasive surgery particularly in treating colorectal disease. Specialised in various general surgical conditions, he has proven expertise in treating colorectal disease from benign to malignant cases.

Graduated from University St. Andrews, United Kingdom (UK) with B.Sc. Medical Science, he completed his medical degree at the University of Manchester in 1999. He began his career as a houseman in Manchester, UK in 1999. He subsequently started his surgical training at the Northwest region of the UK and obtained Membership of Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) of Edinburgh in 2003. After seven years of medical service with the NHS in the UK, he returned to Malaysia to continue his Higher Surgical Training at the University of Malaya and graduated with Masters of Surgery in 2009.

Providing surgical service from 2009 at Selayang Hospital, Sungai Buloh Hospital, University Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM) and Pusat Perubatan UKM (PPUKM), he completed his Subspeciality in Colorectal Surgery in 2015. This Supspeciality Fellowship includes a 12 month service as a Laparoscopic Colorectal Fellow at a renowned Laparoscopic Colorectal (LAPCO) training centre located at the ICENI centre of Colchester General Hospital, UK. This training has sharpened his knowledge and skills in the management of acute and elective colorectal and general surgical cases via a minimally invasive approach.

Since 2006, Dr Hashim is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching at the Faculty of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) where he also acts as examiners for professional examinations.

He is a member of various associations which include Association of Coloproctology Great Britain & Ireland (ACPGBI), Malaysian Society of Colorectal Surgeons (MSCRS) and College of Surgeons Academy of Medicine Malaysia.
