Dr Rowland Chin is a local from Kota Kinabalu, who obtained his basic medical degree at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia in 1998. He subsequently completed his post grade specialist degree MRCP (UK) in 2004. Following this, Dr Rowland Chin was attached to the cardiology department of Queen Elizabeth Hospital and concentrated on his echocardiogram and non-invasive cardiology training. Dr Rowland Chin entered the intervention fellowship training at the Sarawak General Hospital, Kuching from 2006 to 2007. In 2008, He entered advanced fellowship training at the Monash Medical Centre, Melbourne, Australia, one of the main Australian heart centres for intervention and primary angioplasties. In 2009, Dr Chin returned to Kota Kinabalu and was one of the cardiologists’ team in setting up the Sabah Heart Centre angiogram services at the Queen Elizabeth 2 Hospital. The service grew and in 2013, Sabah Heart Centre became one of the top angiogram volume centre with almost 3000 procedures annually. Since 2009, Dr Rowland Chin has been a visiting cardiologist at the Sabah Medical Centre and now as a resident cardiologist who specialised in radial (hand) approach angiogram, angioplasties, pacemakers and echocardiography.
