About Dr Hoari Krishnan

Resident Consultant Orthopaedic & Sports Trauma Surgeon. Dr. Hoari did his undergraduate medical studies in Manipal University, India and later did his Masters in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He was awarded a scholarship to pursue a fellowship, in Advance Trauma under Ministry of Health Malaysia (whereby he was fortunate to do fellowshps in Germany & England). He was the 1st batch of surgeon under KKM, who qualified as an Advence Trauma surgeon.

  • Speciality Interests

    Dr Hoari provides outpatient and inpatient care for all types of orthopaedic problems.The main interest is in minimally invasive surgery for sports injury, joint replacement and spine injuries with pain management. He does minimally invasive Arthroscopy surgery of the knee, shoulder and ankle for ligamentous and cartilage damage after sports or other injuries. He did the 1st hip joint arthroscopy debridement for gouty arthritis at KPJ Sabah. Besides the general orthopaedic work, his special interest is in minimally invasive surgery, which allows patients to recover faster.Below are the conditions that he commonly treats using minimally invasive technique: Knee Joint:Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and Posterior cruciate ligament surgery, Arthroplasty (joint replacement surgery), Arthroscopic, chondroplasty and microfractures for osteoarthritis, Cartilage repair, ankle stabilization surgery, Meniscus repair surgery, Multiple knee ligament reconstruction, Orthopedic trauma surgery, Patella surgery, Computer assisted Total knee arthroplaty.Shoulder joint: Shoulder cuff repair surgery, Bankart surgery, Frozen shoulder release, Slap lesion, AC joint OA, shoulder fracture.Ankle joint:Ankle instability/ Ligament tear, Fusion of joints, Osteochondral defects ,Spur arthroscopic removal, Ankle and calcaneum fracture.Wrist joint:Arthroscopic TFCC repair, Osteochondral defects, scaphoid fracture and lunate fixation.Hip joint:Arthroscopic debridement, total hip replacement, SUFE and complex pelvic/ acetabular fractures.Elbow joint:Frcatures, Radial head replacement, ligament reconstruction and arthrosopy debridementPain management:Using RF technique for spine and limbs. PRP injections, joint Hyaluronic acid injections.

    Research and Publications:

    Besides clinical work and taking care of patients, Dr Hoari has a keen interest in teaching and research. He has published peer reviewed paper at Pubmed journals and currently, doing a new project for osteochondral defects in the joints.He is involved in teaching at UMS medical school since 2006 and loves do to bed site teaching with the students.The following are the publication:
