Dr. Hamizad bin Omar commenced his practice as Consultant Anesthetist in KPJ Perdana Specialist Hospital effective from September 2007. He is a Member of Malaysian Society of Anesthesiologists, fully registered with Malaysian Medical Council and accredited as Anesthesiology by the National Specialist Register in 2008. Dr. Hamizad graduated from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 1996. After Housemanship at Hospital Muar, he started his career in Anesthesiology from 1997 in Hospital Kuala Terengganu until he obtained his Master in Medicine (Anesthesiology) at Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2003. He then worked as Anesthetist in Hospital Johor Bahru and Hospital Batu Pahat from 2003 to 2007. In 2004, he was awarded with an Excellence Service Award from Hospital Sultanah Aminah, Johor Bahru. During his work and training he has attended many courses, trainings and attachments in subspecialty training especially in cardiology (IJN), pain management (University of Songkhala) and intensive care (Hospital Sultanah Aminah Johor Bahru). He was given responsibility to setup acute pain management units catering pain management service for postoperative patient and obstetric epidural service in Hospital Johor Bharu and actively involved in other protocol developments for the Anesthesiology Department in Hospital Sultanah Aminah Johor Bahru. Later, he was transferred and appointed as Head of Department of Anesthesiology in Hospital Batu Pahat before joining Perdana Specialist Hospital.
