About Dr Ahmad Khadri Awang

Aside from his vast exposure in the cardiac and thoracic disciplines, he has also participated in various local and international meetings and conferences. In the field of medical education, Dr Ahmad Khadri was involved in clinical training, tutorial and lectures for undergraduates and postgraduate students of IIUM. He also involved in major undergraduate and postgraduates examination as an examiner and also reviewer for International Medical Journal (published by IIUM). He is the member of Malaysian Association For Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (MATCVS) and Association of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeon of Asia (ATCSA).

    He graduated from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia with MD degree in 1998 and Masters of General Surgery in 2005. He has been serving the Malaysian public Since 1998 at various government Hospitals and then joined International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) as Senior Lecturer and Consultant General Surgeon in 2005. He had fellowship training in cardiothoracic surgery at National Heart Institute Malaysia (IJN) from 2007 until 2010 (for four years) and had the privilege to work at Chest Disease Hospital in Kuwait City, Kuwait (2011) and Hamad Medical Corporation Doha, Qatar (2012-2013).

    Dr. Ahmad Khadri has special interest in off-pump coronary artery bypass surgery (OPCAB), Atrial Fibrillation Surgery, Mitral Valve Repair, Tricuspid Valve Repair, non-complex congenital heart disease, Video Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS) and Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy for palma hyperhydrosis.
